"Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm
yourselves likewise with the same mind: for He that hath suffered in
the flesh hath ceased from sin;" (1 Peter 4:1).
Some have this attitude that once they start to follow the Lord they
have no responsibility anymore but the Lord does everything for them.
The definition of education is the transfer of skills and knowledge
from one with superior knowledge and skills to one with inferior
knowledge and skills.
In education one is also taught to do certain things without questioning.
So too in the spiritual life. The Lord coaches us, guides us, moulds
us into what He wants us to be, His image.
In Peter we read of some skills we should have. As one goes through
the Gospel the Master teacher, Jesus Christ, teaches us too.
Peter here bases his argument on Christ. "Since Christ ..." The
rationale for doing things and being changed into His image is Jesus
He is the Corner Stone on which we build. We must develop our attitude
to have the right attitude. Attitude feeds your abilities. If you have
a negative attitude you will always find things difficult. The
attitude of Christ is humility. It flows from the base Christ Jesus.
We are to clothe ourselves with the same attitude.
Do you understand humility? Christ is the basis of everything. We
clothe ourselves with His way. It is obtained from a relationship with
Jesus Christ. As you humble yourself God will lift you up.
As I cast my anxiety on Him He gives peace. If you only know the
theory it's not developed. It has to be applied in practice.
We must continuously live in Christ. We need to lose ourselves so much
in Christ that our daily walk is His way and attitude automatically;
then self-control and being alert will be natural in your life.
Unless we remain in Christ we won't be able to practice these
Christian attitude, live the Christian life.
