But before we get to the three things, note the following.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. You have no wisdom at all if you don't fear the Lord. The roots of educational institutions were brought about by Christianity.
Dr Von Brown was a brilliant mathematician and helped the Americans with their space program to go to the moon. He testified of the Lord Jesus from university to university. At a certain university students stood up and challenged him, "Dr von Brown you're a mathematician with a brilliant mind, how can you believe in God. Explain God to us". He replied, "must I light a match for you to see the light of the sun?" Such is the stupidity and foolishness of any who question God's existence, when the whole of nature cries out. "
The Bible says, "the fool has said in his heart, there is no God". Fools they are that deny God, even though they might have any amount of knowledge.
That word "beginning" in Hebrew refers to being "the chief", "pinnacle" of wisdom.
Back to the three things from the life of Jeremiah that we need to take note of tonight.
1) Obedience. Without obedience there's no future.
Some might say obedience leads to slavery. No, obedience doesn't lead to slavery but sets us free. Obedience to God and His Word, that is.
2) Faithfulness. Be faithful in small things, as if they were great for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord Jesus said that if we're not faithful in small things He won't entrust us with greater things.
The Lord Jesus said, "be faithful till death and you will receive the crown of life". We need eyes to see even beyond the grave and not only prepare till our deathbed.
May we faithful in this world and the world to come.
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. " (Matthew 6:33).
It means to do what is right in God's eyes according to His Word and His will.
Take heed to these three things and that the Lord Jesus said, "rather cut off your right hand if it offends you, than spend eternity in hell where the worm doesn't die and the fire is not quenched. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth".
